As labor and competitive pressures mount, more companies are looking to localize robotics production and adoption. RoboStore, a leading distributor of foreign humanoid and quadruped robots in North America, today publicly launched Robo Inc., a U.S.-based robotics manufacturer and systems integrator.
“With U.S.-based assembly, localized data infrastructure, and domestic integration, Robo Inc. will create a robotics platform built for American compliance,” stated Teddy Haggerty, founder and CEO of RoboStore and Robo Inc.
“RoboStore gave us a front-row seat to what customers actually need from robotics,” he added. “Rather than more far-out promises, customers want solutions that can be deployed now, built around a specific job and supported over time. We’re moving beyond selling robots to building a localized ecosystem that allows U.S. organizations to put robotics to work responsibly and at scale.”
Plainview, N.Y.-based RoboStore is the primary U.S. distributor for Hangzhou, China-based Unitree Robotics. Last week, Unitree filed for an initial public offering (IPO) in Shanghai that would bring its valuation to more than $900 million.
RoboStore applies lessons learned in U.S. market
RoboStore said it will continue supporting its installed base and current inventory, including parts, repairs and upgrades for the platforms it services. The company‘s Roboverse developer community, which has more than 4,000 members, will continue to operate under the Robo Inc. umbrella.
After a year in stealth, Robo Inc. builds on RoboStore’s experience with selling and deploying more than 1,500 humanoid and quadruped robots and serving 4,500 customers in North America, said RoboStore. It intends to combine global supply chains with U.S.-based engineering, software, integration, production, testing, service, and support.
Just as Western companies set up subsidiaries and affiliates in China to gain entry to that market, Robo Inc. could be part of a similar trend, with Chinese businesses launching spinoffs to maintain access to the U.S. market in the face of growing trade restrictions.

Potentially in response to cybersecurity concerns, Robo Inc. said it is designing security and safety measures into its integration process. They include reviews of data flows, network access, software controls, operating environments, and application-specific risks.
Robo Inc. to be hardware-agnostic
Robo Inc. also said it draws on experience from thousands of purchases, deployments, repairs, and integration requests from customers including Harvard, MIT, Amazon, and NVIDIA. The company claimed that it will address the common customer demand for robots that can be deployed to solve specific operational problems today.
In addition, Robo Inc. asserted that it will meet realistic performance expectations, set clear safety boundaries, comply with U.S. regulations, and have plans for integration into existing workflows. It said it is not promising “an all-in-one humanoid” that can handle every task.
Robo Inc. said it will be a hardware-agnostic integrator, choosing components and platforms based on the requirements of each application. The new company described itself as “a U.S.-based robotics manufacturing and systems integration company building deployable, application-specific solutions through a global-to-local operating model.”
Robo Inc. plans to open a 66,000-sq.-ft. (6,131.6-sq.-m) production facility on Long Island in New York. The company expects it to be fully operational by the first quarter of 2027.
